Gilad Turok

Hi , I’m Gilad. I’m a Computer Science PhD student at Cornell University , supported by the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. I am fortunate to work with Professors Volodymyr Kuleshov and Chris De Sa.

I work on machine learning and generative modeling, with a focus on diffusion and flow-based language models. These models frame generation as iteratively transporting noise to data, rather than next-token prediction. This unlocks capabilities beyond autoregressive models: parallel and any-order generation, token revision, and finer control. I study how to leverage these properties – across pre-training, post-training and inference – to make language generation more efficient, scalable, and aligned.

Previously, I’ve spent time at Adobe Research, Uber, and the Flatiron Institute (Simons Foundation) with Bob Carpenter. I graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Applied Mathematics.
